What is a Hong Kong Prize?

A Hong Kong prize is a reward given to people who achieve something extraordinary or make a difference. It is a form of recognition that boosts their confidence and can lead to greater success. Prizes can also be used to motivate staff and enhance team morale. Some of the most famous prizes in the world are the Nobel Peace Prize, which is awarded to those who work for peace. Others are the HK Global Development Prize, which awards innovative ideas that can help shape Hong Kong’s role on the global stage and promote international cooperation.

The winner of the award will be announced at a ceremony held in October 2025. The judging panel will include experts from the fields of science, technology, and business. The winners will be rewarded with the Hong Kong Top Brand Mark and a trophy featuring two precious elements, a pearl and a pierced jade amulet, which has happy connotations in Chinese and Western cultures.

In order to be eligible for the award, an organization must have a Hong Kong business registration certificate and substantive operational activities in Hong Kong. It must also demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Organizer that it has exclusive rights to fully control the production, distribution or other operations of its entry brand. The application process will consist of a Preliminary Screening, Interview by the Final Judging Panel and Public Polling. The final decision will be based on review by the Judging Panel with results of Public Polling and On-site Assessment taken into consideration. Previous winners of the Hong Kong Top Brand (“Hong Kong Premier Brand”) are subject to a one-year moratorium before they may resume entitlement to the Award for the third year following their win.

The HK Phil is thrilled to be named Orchestra of the Year, and would like to thank its sponsors, especially Principal Patron the Swire Group, as well as music-lovers in Hong Kong and around the world for their support. The HK Phil will continue to strive for excellence and will endeavour to present more high-quality music for the benefit of the community.

Those who want to be considered for the award must submit their applications by December 31. Winners will be announced at a special ceremony in October. This event will feature a live performance by the winning orchestra, and the ceremony will be broadcast across Hong Kong.

The HK Global Development Prize is open to individuals and organizations, with the aim of encouraging innovative ideas that can help shape Hong Kong’s development and international cooperation. Prize winners will be rewarded with a monetary prize and the opportunity to present their submission to key industry stakeholders. In addition, all participants will have the opportunity to attend seminars organized by the Organizers to further develop their potential and network with others in the field. The competition is governed by a Charter, with the Board acting as the highest decision-making body. It is responsible for reviewing and interpreting the Charter; suggesting important scientific research fields for THE PRIZE; appointing members to serve on the Review Committee and Compliance Oversight Team; and setting requirements for nominating experts.
