Make a Splash in Hong Kong Pools
Hong Kong boasts some of the most incredible pools in the world. They’re the perfect place to impress out-of-town guests, a splashy way to celebrate a special occasion, or just a place to relax and recharge after a long week. From rooftop pools to water-level pools, lap-ready pools to poolside bars, there’s a swimming pool in Hong Kong for every kind of swimmer.
Whether you want to run a few laps in the morning, swim a little with the kids, or just soak up some sunshine, these pools are the perfect way to make a splash this summer.
Located on the edge of Hung Hom’s harbourfront on Kowloon’s east side, The Kerry hotel’s infinity pool offers spectacular views over Hong Kong. Non-hotel guests can purchase a day pass to the pool for HK$500 on weekdays and $700 on weekends, making this one of the most affordable and best pools in Hong Kong. Stay until sunset and enjoy a sundowner at the adjacent Red Sugar al fresco bar, where you can also soak up live music and free flow tapas.
While Hong Kong has been hit hard by the coronavirus, it has reopened all public sports facilities including pools and beaches. Some pools have even seen a boost in visitors thanks to the relaxation of some restrictions.
Many of the city’s newest apartment complexes have their own swimming pools. Those in large developments with several towers often have 50-metre indoor and outdoor pools, while smaller single-tower developments might only have a small outdoor pool – still a fun place for children to splash around and burn off some energy. If you’re looking for a new home, check out the swimming pool facilities before you buy.
The only thing better than a dip in the sea is a plunge in a rooftop pool. If you’re ready to take your Hong Kong pool game to the next level, head to the 76th floor of W Hotel Hong Kong for their infamous WET deck. The pool’s glass bottom allows you to do some laps while keeping an eye on the traffic below.
If you’re a fan of tropical paradise vibes, you can also swim in Hotel Indigo’s stunning glass-bottom pool. The pool protrudes from the building, allowing people below to watch swimmers, and it’s covered with 144 LED screens that display soothing illustrations of tree canopies and coral reefs.
Located near Tai O village in the New Territories, Bride’s Pool is a series of crystal clear pools and waterfalls that are a popular local hiking destination. The steep hike requires a sweaty one-hour climb, but the view of mountaintops and the sea below is more than worth it.
